Division III Champion: Hillwood High School Band

* Booster meeting RESCHEDULED.  The next booster meeting will be Tuesday, October 13 at 6:30 PM in the rehearsal hall.

* Fruit sale information sent home.  A link to the fruit sale sight is available on the HHS band website.  The first due date is October 28 for Thanksgiving delivery.  Information for ordering online is attached.

* TWO competitions this Saturday: McGavock and Goodpasture.  The gig sheet is attached.  Look for more information regarding Saturday in the weekly update.

* The band will NOT be attending Bands of America Competition in Indianapolis this year.

* Notice calendar changes below in RED.  Rehearsal times have changed for the remainder of marching season.  Other changes are included in the calendar time line.  Please note that the rehearsal schedule for November has NOT been set at this time.

From the gig sheet:
  -  7:00 AM - CALL TIME on the main athletic field for a brief rehearsal
  -  8:30 AM - Parents on hand to begin loading the truck
  -  9:15 AM - Depart Hillwood High School
  -  9:45 AM - Arrive at McGavock High School
  - 11:17 AM - Band warm-up time
  - 12:00 PM - Band performance time

  -  1:00 PM - Depart McGavock High School
  -  1:30 PM - Arrive at Goodpasture High School
  -  2:00 PM - Band warm-up time
  -  2:45 PM - Band performance time

  -  8:30 PM - Goodpasture contest end time (estimate)
  - 11:30 PM - MCI (McGavock) contest end time (estimate)
  - 12:00 AM - Arrive at Hillwood High School (estimate)

Important Notes:
--  We will need as many parents on hand to take care of loading equipment and to help the students between performances to get hydrated, fed, and rested.  Both contests follow a prelims and finals performance format.  However a finals performance at MCI at McGavock is based on the two highest winners in class A whereas finals are automatic at Goodpasture. 

-- Announcements of finals at MCI will occur at 5:35 PM.  Should the band advance to finals we will attend after a drawing is made.  Finals at McGavock will start at 7:00 PM

-- We will work with the schedule at Goodpasture to determine whether we will be able to perform for their finals event without a conflict should we advance at MCI.

-- Our finals performance at Goodpasture is also based on a random drawing.  Finals for Goodpasture start at 5:00 PM.

Did you have the pleasure of attending the competition Saturday???  All I could say after it was over was "SPECTACULAR!"  This is the best I've seen the kids perform.  The younger kids were in attendance, helping out.  We have some WONDERFUL kids!!!

Saturday is going to be a LONG day with two competitions.  We're going to need plenty of people on hand to help provide water and support for the kids.
